prob a question Blue Estate can help with…in the next couple of weeks may be heading for A348 Ringwood Road near Wickes store from the boat. I’ve ran to Airfield Way Christchurch on occasion, going through Highcliffe, but after that no idea of the best way. Artic 14’ height.
A35 to bournemouth, Right at roundabout before Asda onto holdenhurst road. Left at Halfords/Lidl Wellington road. Under the A338, continue to end/mini roundabout. Left onto B3064. Right onto A347 and follow your nose over a few roundabouts, past the University turns into A3049. Big roundabout at the end with Miller and carter on, Wickes Ind est is on the right.
Thats the way we cut between Asda Bournemouth and Asda Canford heath. 14’4 artics.
brilliant…thanks for that,Fuzrat
There are roadworks on the A3049 Wallisdown Road and it is closed to Westbound traffic for the next few weeks. There is a diversion route which takes you to the A348 at the roundabout near Wickes, I haven’t followed this diversion so can’t say how well signposted it is or how congested it gets, I’m pretty sure there aren’t any restrictions for height or weight.
Depending on the time of day I would possibly follow the A35 from Christchurch, turn right at Iford roundabout just after crossing the River Stour onto Castle Lane East, past Bournemouth Hospital, straight on at several roundabouts to eventually meet the A341, follow that to Bear Cross roundabout and turn left onto A348 Ringwood Road. Castle Lane around the hospital can be heavily congested from 8-9am and 4-5:30pm, if you are likely to be in that area around those times it’s probably quicker to take the B3073 from Christchurch, past Bournemouth Airport to join the A348 between Ferndown and Longham.
Good spot, havent been down for a month or so. I would make the assumption looking at current traffic on google that the diversion is right onto Kinson road then left onto Turbary park ave.
Yes, that is the diversion. There always seems to be a queue in Poole Lane to join Ringwood Road even without the extra diverted traffic but it’s a while since I came that way so don’t know how far it usually stretches.
thanks Norbert i would expect to catch the 0945 boat,so should miss the rush hour traffic.

By far the better way, go round past the airport as said.

Bournemouth traffic is just an effluent show right now - and won’t improve until they finish bunging in all the new cycle lanes every where.
On top of the general dig-ups seemingly done randomly by random contractors.
Avoid.
