Drivers cpc again

if you hold a european licence can you do the drivers cpc course in the uk and will it apply to your european licence?

If you can.

could someone point me to relevant information off the dvla or similar website that will prove this.

As company i work for says it wont apply if i do the drivers cpc course in the uk and hold a southern ireland licence.

Yes you can do the periodic dcpc hours in the UK with any licence issued in the EU but you may have to do at least 7 hours in EIRE

To have that with your EU licence you will have to find out what the country of issue needs from you to have either a DQC issued or the code put on the licence

Each EU country has their own set up but EU law states that this can be done as you wish to

thanks rog
i am not very familar or up to date with all this and dont have all my details to hand so would be grateful if u could explain a little for me
as far as i know i passed the class 2 licence prior to 2009 so am i entitled to any rights ?

why would you have to do at least 7 hours in eire if the course is eu surely all thats taught on these courses is the same throughout the eu?

what is a dqc?

thanks in advance rog

DQC = Driver cpc card for UK but other EU countries do not have itand use a code on the driving licence next to the categories

You do have aquired/grandfather rights

It is often the case that to go into the dcpc system of a country the driver has to do at least one 7 hour course in that country but it seems each may have their own rules so check with the country in which your licence has been issued - EIRE in this case

You could always exchange for a UK licence if you are now resident here

Thanks rog will have to contact the irish version of vosa and see what there views are on this
no to change over to uk licence with the amount of camera s i see flashing

Not quite right there Rog.

Whilst I cannot comment on other european countries, here in France we most certainly do have a drivers qualification card, which lists licence categories and codes (95 for DCPC (FIMO in France)) against the relevant category. This is in addition to the driving licence and the digi tacho card.

I was under the impression you can do cpc in any country in eu with any eu licence ,but all 5 have to be done in the one country ,plenty of poles, and latvians doing here with their own licence from home .

Would they get a UK DQC ? - I dont think they can because they do not have a UK licence

Would they get a full consideration of those 35 hours in the country which their licence is issued ? - Probably yes but that would depend on what that country allows

Idont know about uk ,i exchanged my uk licence for irish 15 years ago ,when i was doing cpc told instructor will be going to uk to work ,and was told have to finish cpc in country it was started. So i want to know myself when i have all 5 completed and recieve card ,if i move back uk and get uk licence i will have to exchange cpc card as well ?

If you have a UK DQC and then exchange the licence for an EIRE one then the DQC remains valid until its expiry date

This is the same for all other EU states under the agreement in the rules

Ok i understand and what about a digi card

Not certain on that issue but I would not be surprised to find the same applies to that as it does to the DQC

Thanks for your answer appreciate them.
