Calling Norwich or surrounding area based drivers

Hi folks,

Ok, so it looks like I might actually be making a move from Teesside down to Norwich (or there about!) so my question folks, is this:

Can anyone name any decent companies to be looking into?

Appreciate any responses! :grimacing: :sunglasses:

Jack Richards from Fakenham.

Richard long if you want to be shouted at Rudely all the time. Jack Richards are supposed to be good also maybe foulger transport… However there are many small companies around here such as peter carter haulage (kings lyn) and there are family ran companies aswell. Just do a simple search in google search ‘Norfolk hauliers’ hope I helped a little

Thanks Retro rob & SCANIA730 appreciate that. Just trying to get some research done before I do make the move down to Norwich!

Foulger drivers must be on a % of what the truck earns! The drivers I’ve encounted on the roads are by enlarge the worst I’ve ever seen (I mean driving dangerously)

Bartrums and Richards if you want old school -average wage and decent fleet kit- Foulgers - and Folwer Welch if you want a few pennies more per hour but happy to be a number rather than name- lots of small agricultural based hauliers running tippers- great money during the harvests but this time of year dead quiet

We’re right in the middle of the beet campaign!

Cheers guys, again much appreciated.

I do prefer the old school run companies personally - I’ve been ‘just a number’ before, not a fan unless I have to really.
I’ll be giving a few folks a call to enquire!

Was gonna say I saw absolutely ■■■■ loads of sugar beet being taken into Wissington

There are plenty old school firms about my family run like that you’re actually a name not a number you get treated like ■■■■ with the big firms like tescos…

Are you moving to Norwich or somewhere else in Norfolk? Makes a difference if you need to commute north south through Norwich.

There are many family run firms, it does seem almost every farmer has set himself up as a haulier.

North of Norwich there is MA & MV Medlers doing general haulage or J Medlers doing bricks, steel and timber. There is also Durys, Starlings and you could try Saxon motors, all around North Walsham. And a host of others with a few trucks.

South of Norwich, Wymondham Freight and Valley freight services! In Wymondham, poultry, Ballams in attleborough, Star transport, DHL, Chris Riches in Thetford, and Niel
Bomfords in Harleston. Plus many others tucked away here and there.

But there are a few to be going on with.

Good luck.

Every farmer here does have a lorry or too haha

My mate calls native Norfolk farmer/drivers “tanglefoots”, on account of em (allegedly) "avin` more toes than the rest of us."

He is, of course, a ■■■■■

muckles` list is a cracker and worth acting on.

When you see some people on the farms, you might think he’s got a point.

You’d get pretty good list of local haulage companies by watching the East Coast Truckers Convoy on you tube,
