All the rhetoric about level playing fields and fair treatment for Britains Hauliers coming out of the Government is shown for the hogwash it really is.
Margaret Becket was interviewed on BBC News 24 during today and put forward the usual statistics (Government Facts), 25% of Co2 pollution comes from vehicles and they must be reduced in number and pay their fair share towards Britains contibution to reducing Global warming.
When asked about Air Passenger travel and if the Government were to tax Aviation Fuel at a level other transport forms have to endure she replied: Taxing Aviation Fuel will increase the cost to air passengers and it is likely that Airlines will be able to enter into contractual arrangement for 'Carbon Trading', in other words continue polluting on the cheap and leave the pain to everyone else. Clearly the Aviation lobby in Parliament is shouting loudest.
Come on Road Transport Lobby, Unions and Vested interests, the silence is deafening.
