Satnav Updates

Whilst surfing a company called HGV SOLUTIONS.COM I noticed PROCAB, designed to update existing satnavs to truck spec. Available as download or CD, the cost for my satnav was £50.
Has anyone used them, feedback would be appreciated.

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these updates for my tomtom as I’ve heard allot of good things about them just not got round to doing it yet :unamused:

It’s only a point of interest file the poi files are available free on the net if you look around

It will not give you hgv routing

£50 to buy and then £25 per year for updates, seems a lot to pay for a set of POIs

It’s not POI’s it’s new map with LGV routing

I’ve been looking at this too as well as lowbridges.com. Could do with some feedback from any members that have either sofware

Are you sure ?

I can’t see anything on their website to suggest you get a new map unless you pay for a Tomtom update, and as far as LGV routing goes it seems that you have the option to see and check what obstacles are on your route before starting which you can do with any POIs, it says nothing about the program selecting a LGV friendly route.

It does say this:

pre-plan" and “live alert” features help drivers plan & avoid restrictions

which simply means that you can see the obstacles before travelling and you will get an alert if you are heading towards a low bridge or other obstacle, but that’s exactly what you get with all POIs isn’t it

It does say you can put the vehicle details in and the program will show you any restriction on the route but that’s just a more sophisticated set of POIs really.

It does mention re-routing but all sat-navs will do that with the original maps and software, this seems to me to be perhaps a more sophisticated POI system than most but I’m still sceptical.

I would recommend phoning the company before parting with good money to make sure you get what you want, then I’ll happily be corrected if I’m wrong about this

It is just a set of POI, nothing more and i would say its possible to get these free elsewhere if you look around. All it will do is show you icons on your sat nav of a low bridge with a height, same with width and weights, also a selection of other truck related POI, it does not have any routing capability. The instructions seem to say you let the sat nav plan the route and if you browse that route you will see if any icons are sitting on the route.

If you set up the alerts correctly it will only alert to the height, width and weight of your vehicle, but having seen it, I do think its too expensive wehn you can with a bit of looking around find the same things elsewhere for free.

Try tomtom home lowbridge poi a d more for free they do the same job

anybody have any joy with this ?

I have just stumbled on this

lowbridges.com/loadx.htm

and then this

garminfree.com/free_poi.htm
