41st Transpennine Run

Sunday 2nd August chance to see some fine old machinery on the road. The 41st Transpennine Run
starts from West Bound side of Birch Services on the M62 travelling to The Stray at Harrogate.
Vehicles will be departing between 0800 and 1000hrs. If you are coming along come up and say hello,
I will be in my Green ERF E12 reg number D417 PPP. Regards Big Al

See you there Al.

I’ve drawn the short straw this year - I’m taking a Volvo FH from Bowkers - hardly what you would call vintage! (The lad who is taking their Leyland Beaver doesn’t fancy driving it both ways so I get to take the support vehicle)

See you both there.

Keep an eye out for Mick Ridgwicks Atki Borderer Al, JMU 266K, and both Steve Ridgwick and myself will be aboard.

Can’t wait. I’m like a dog with two at the moment!!!

Ken.

Posted this in the PDF thread. Looking forward to seeing some folks tomorrow and maybe putting some faces to name’s

"Alright chaps, this has always been a good road-run to catch if yer can

For the people who are doing it, wish I was  , me and my 8yr old son will be at the side of the road (Blue VW Touran) just after the left turn at the traffic lights in Littleborough from about 9.00am and then later on we will be up at the big traffic lit junction just before you drop down to Halifax (King Cross).
Just as a ‘heads up’ the Council (H&S) have put some temporary lane changes on the KC traffic lights, because of building work going on as you pass through the big crossroads and there have been quite a number of shunts over the last couple of weeks coz of late lane changing, so maybe yer need to watch out for the ‘Sunday Driver’s’ & the insurance claimers :open_mouth: :astonished: :astonished: And as far as I’m aware this area (KC) has quite an ‘alleged’ reputation for staged accidents :exclamation: :exclamation:

Anyway chaps look out for me and my lad  he will be made up   if he gets some wave’s back and so will"

Have a good day fella’s

Did the driver of the Bowker Volvo FH give you a wave?

Sorry ‘Killsville’ we missed the Bowker’s motors  We must have moved further up towards Halifax but got to say it was a brilliant turnout and was good to see some of the later motors coming through that are now on the preservation scene.

Think my ‘youngun’ got a bit fed up when I kept saying I used to drive one of them    But when the P&S Contracts MACK ‘KING OF THE ROAD’   went past I couldn’t say I’d driven one of them :open_mouth:   He was absolutely buzzing at seeing that ‘tag’ across the front  of that MACK

Plannning to follow the run all the way up to the Stray next year
Regards
Dave Penn;

Get yourself up to Birch services next year Dave. Remind me nearer the time and we might be able to scrounge you a ride with somebody!

You know you are getting old when you start to appreciate the tow truck rather than the exhibit it is carrying :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice pictures thanks all.
