Has any-one got any photos of Renault Turboliners ( predecessor to the Premium ) ?
I had one back in the mid '80s on European work … R385 with the Renault B18 - double -H gearbox … pulled like a train coming up out of Dover .
Loads of living space … “poor-mans” Globetrotter … virtually flat-floor in the cab
Bought a 3yr old ex-lease for £13,000 … Scania wanted £27,000 for a comparable wagon … Renault let me try a Magnum … but as I used to do “shop deliveries” in Belgium / Holland … I found the Turboliner easier to get into small towns. Got given a Premium demonstrator when they were launched … took it back after 3 days ( was supposed to have it at least a week ) … Renault SPOILT a great cab design
I reckon they were a great motor, I used a 340 version for 2 years on groupage, was gutted when it was replaced by a concusion cab premium.
The cab great to live in. will get some pics posted at one point
R310 I owned early 90s, cab way ahead of it’s time, enough space to take 2 of my kids, (as seen) away all week.
The only turboliner I ever had and it wasn’t the most pleasurable of experiences
Eddie Snax Turboliner, circa 1996 I seem to remember, Turboliner really did have loads of room compared to many motors of the time, I had a Highliner which despite the name was a low cab version.

Well it was one hell of a step up after tramping in this for a couple of years.

Sailor Pats old truck,
westropes ran at least 10 renault turboliners doing swiss and germany, mine served me well and was a big step up from a 290 roadtrain.
they had 2 ex peter cooks trucks, the turboliner extenstions where aftermarket additions which had no cuboards over the front and just carpeted sides you hit a bump and your stuff came down.
No Rush:
0Drove this for three years. 340 +B18, good lorry, apart from the 'box.
Yep I had an L reg 340 for 2 yrs, loved it, got to agree about that gear box, bloody heavy.
One of the most comfortable lorries I have driven/lived in even to this day but god, that bloody gearbox! …
