A moan, just a little one

Had a few of drops in Newcastle today, most of them unremarkable, but, one carpet shop owner wanted me to handball 4 pallets of carpet tiles into his van  , not a beeping chance, funny how he then managed to find a couple of lads to do it, and they did, just short of 4 tonnes in a VW Caddy :open_mouth: .

Then at some ■■■■■■ retail park, some bint started screaming at me because I wouldn’t wait for her to strip the pallet down so I could take the pallet and packaging back, wtf, I didn’t help matters though when I said “Unfortunately it doesn’t say Biffa on my wagon but for £42, I can take it to a destination of your choice in the UK.”

Anyone else done Boundary Mills? and struggled to get on their bay?

I get plenty of chancers too,if you are daft enough to do it you will be very busy,if i handballed and helped out at every drop id only have time to do half the drops in a day,and i hate that nonsense about taking the pallet and wrap away, would you open your letters and ask the postman to take the envelope away??

Some deliveries we do with Pallex require us to strip pallets down and handball the stock into the shop, then take the empty pallets and shrink wrap back with us. The customer pays for this service, but the drivers don’t see any of this money in our pay packets for doing the hard work!!! Pees me off too.

If you’re paid, and it’s part of the job (company’s charging for you to do it, it’s part of your job) then you are paid to do it :unamused:

You can always sell the pallets on way back to the yard unless the company needs them back - can’t sell CHEP’s or Reds though

I probably made more money out of pallets a few years ago than I did in wages, the company didn’t want them back, the customer didn’t want them cluttering up their place, so I took them to a pallet yard and flogged them - at the moment, a decent condition Euro pallet is around £3 each… so a stack of 15 is 45 quid, 2 stacks per row etc… obviously you’re never that full and they’re never in that good condition, but for 40 or so pallets I used to take around, I used to get 50 quid or so in my pocket, sometimes more, sometimes MUCH more.
