1Ton bulk bags

Just watch out. My mate as just had a fine for carring bulk bags just with a strap around the rear bags. Yes we all know they will go no were on a flat, but Mr road side said other wise.

On anoth note. Tautliners with the curtain Bucks that come undone. Again one of my mates got a fixed pen the other week for it, Again the men in funny jackets on road side.

So watch out Boys and Girls.

Best get your head down mate, all the holier than thous will be out to shoot you down, your mate no straps, tut tut

never say never

I hate carrying things like that, bulk bags or drums, pain to secure.

Cargo net probably best, but how many driving tauts carry a cargo net?

“Yes we all know they will go no were on a flat”
If thats the case, why bother putting a strap over the back two?
Would take all of 15 mins to rope the lot.

Can’t see why they wouldn’t come off of the side of the trailer if you had to swerve, or if you had a collision.

I would have though you would be lucky if they stayed on the trailer with no straps

Think the OP’s got his fishing rod out :unamused:

You see so many with just a rope cross on the back or one strap. Net it the way to go or like you say it would not take long to either rope or strap them.

If it stays where it is no matter what then why bother with tippers just put almost 20 t of sand etc in bags and use a flat. :open_mouth:

We have to strap everything on ferry trailers as i believe they are quite strict in europe even in euroliners.
Wasn’t there a thing recently where vosa said rope wasn’t adequate on bags on a flat it had to be straps

Must admit i havent heard about that one.
15 straps or 2/3 lengths of rope . . or 1 rope with a fly sheet.
Yea i know ,you shouldnt rope over a fly sheet :unamused:

As an aside, i think most 1ton bulk bags only weigh 850kg nowadays, something to do with h+s

There was a thread about it recently.Quite a few drivers and firms got done for not strapping bulk bags, even inside curtains. It was mainly in the Aberdeen area and I believe some of the hauliers are challenging Vosa in court.

Straps on bulk bags of sand don’t work very well, I’d prefer rope but your not aloud has to be straps

If you think straps are useless on sand try loading 2x half tonne bulk bags of animal feed topped! It’s like trying to carry jelly, bloody things slide about everywhere.

What’s the procedure for carrying these whilst on a pallet? And 850kg for h+s they feel a lot more when your tail-lifting them off for someone’s pretty garden :astonished:

I think it was the Scotland traffic police and as we know they stem from the loins of Rudolf Hess, he must have had a dabble in that farmhouse the night he landed his plane
I would be interested in knowing more about the fixed penalty for curtain buckles, were they flapping or just undone?

Yes Vosa now are asking you to open up curtain siders at check points to see if the load is straped or not, then my fix pen come out yet again.

What’s wrong woth roping and sheeting

How can h+s affect a fork lift? unless you’ve got 40 blokes lifting them off by hand :unamused: :unamused:
If you ordered 1ton of stuff and only got 850kg you’d be on the phone to them sharpish.

Nothing, but 95% of todays drivers wouldn’t have a clue how to do it, and it would never come up to Bewicks standard even if they did :unamused:
