A Bus driver was talking to me

He just stopped for a Smoke as he was 5 min too early
:arrow_right: Where you going,he asked
Working,i answered
:arrow_right: What you Work?
Driving,i said
:arrow_right: He is thinking in moving over to HGV.Hows going that Work?
Not good anymore,i told hime
Now he came to the Point
:bulb: With First of October he gets £1.- cut short per Hour.
£9.- he gets paid now,and £8.- from 1.October 2011 Thats ruffly 11% minus
Just wounder that Union agrees with that.
Think its called Centrebus from Northampton.

What if he has a learning disability and you’re ripping the ■■■■ out of his spelling?

Lovlyperson’s first language is not English, so unless you read and write well in more than one language perhaps you should be envious rather than critical
I know I am

As for the OPs question, I’ve no idea who represents those bus drivers but I wouldn’t have thought £8 per hour was too bad for driving a bus.

Have to say though that no-one is going to be happy about taking a £1 per hour wage cut :frowning:

8 P/Hr isn’t bad… what ! :astonished:

← cooks up some popcorn and waits for the grammar/spelling police to arrive mob handed.

OP post made high sense and have good spell. Alas joining together of words made smaller impression. Improvement in this precinct is desired.

Perhaps the OP would like to post the comment again in his native language and we can all reply fluently in the same language.

apologies to the op if any offence caused.
to the pc police it was a light hearted joke. get off your high horses.

Really a bus driver talked to you? I’m as mythed as you are.

With some of the ■■■■■ that get on the bus I get on to go home, I would be wanting a lot more than £9 P/h! I’ll stick to getting into the haulage game, much less hassle!! :imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :smiling_imp:

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

Sod driving a bus for a living driving around in circles. Human beings are the worst possible livestock aswell. And I would of have thought 8ph for driving a bus round Northampton is quite good.

Big Chief join up words when pidgin comes home to roost.

When you consider the level of grammar as posted by some on here whose first language is english, Lovlyperson, and others whose mother tongue isn’t the worlds chosen language, seems pretty coherent to me.

While no one wants to have their wages cut, its often sold as redundancies or a temporary wage cut.Bus work is not that bad also they load and unload themselves.

i think that compleat and utter b/s, my step dad works for centerbus out of grantham, i know there on 8p/h, i recon he’s b/s you

just needs all the drivers to refuse to cover any overtime, and that will screw em up,

i was at first in stoke/newcastle and they asked drivers on split dutys, to cover runs by sick drivers, etc… if you covered a run you got paid thro, even if you only did 1 run, they then stopped it and only paid for what you did, needless to say drivers refused the extra, and it wasnt long before they paid you a extra hour or 2 on top of what you did…

the union must be weak to be having a cut like this… :unamused:

First Group are offering £7.46 in South Yorkshire.

If it’s anything like the bus garage I work for, the union could hold a ballot for strike action and the drivers would vote no.
The problem is that to many drivers are in debt, mortgage, mobile phone contracts, cars on finance, latest tellys/and consumables and can’t afford to strike, and the companies know that.

Believe me boys, bus driving can be a prick of a job… I know ! They might load and unload their selves, but a fair few of 'em try to give you a hard time as well. Don’t say “let it go over your head” cos that’s ■■■■ that comes from someone who’s never done it. You get the drunks and ■■■■■■■■ that want to fight the bus driver. You get the drunks that ■■■■ and ■■■■ their selves on the bus. In the end you’d probably finish up like I did: pulling people out of cars and thumping them, or heaving people out the door by the throat. I don’t know how I got away with it, or stabbed or something, but I got out too late… I’m totally ■■■■■■■ nuts now.

I wouldn’t go back to it for 99 quid and hour. No wonder he was upset.

I can confirm that it is [zb] job  I did 6 years of it and it was torture. Starting rate around here with Arriva is £7.27 an hour with a 25p an hour enhancement for weekend working, once you`ve been there 400 years and completely lost the will to live you will be on the top hourly rate which is around £8.94 an hour - -
case closed your honour

One of the large operators in the Midlands started a program early this year to rid themselves of their drivers on mid and high rate by taking disciplinaries out against them for minor things. Things that normally would have had just a verbal warning suddenly were upgraded to final written warnings.

At the same time they changed the T&Cs of the NEW drivers so that they started and stayed at the base rate of £8ph (Mid = £9.30ph, Top = £10.90ph)

They also got rid of 3 of their depots and worked their way around to getting half of the engineers laid off without pensions because of a plan that previously worked to cover out of hours support. As for the union guy? He stood up for his position and H&S in the yard where another driver doing the same thing would have been sacked immediately by pointing out to a visitor ref HiVis (they announced that as they were related to someone important it didn’t matter and he should goto hell) and as a result he got sacked.

So. Most drivers I knew from that company are finding other things to do. Virgin Media were taking a lot on in this area and paying £12ph
