MJD AND SONS

Im looking for a driver on M.J.D Group swancombe my mate saw him at MJD about a year ago. He had a Vovlo FH he kept his hubcaps very clean he was tramping on Euro Containers his first is Billy don’t know last me and my dad knew him and hes grandad bill humphreys who worked at crow carrying co years back Does anyone know this Driver ?

Regards Clint York

Gys i remember an article about mjd and there where in a bit of trouble with vosa but would any body no if they have overcome them i heard they where cleaning there act up so who nos what ?

I see them about and their kit doesn’t impress me, always tatty looking.

Last I heard all the decent drivers had been moved out and the Pole’s moved in. Since then their motors seem to have been banged about a bit. They don’t half shift downhill though! Not sure If they still have the Coke contract Enfield way but they seem to carry some weight and seem to use silent 9th gear downhill! :unamused:

keep hearing diferant things about them spoke to a guy last week who works for them says there getting rid of the poles then a guy who done some casual for them said there the devils sporn so there you go who do you believe

All the ones i’ve seen have been old and knackered, seen better going for export to be honest

Does the husband and wife team still drive on nights for these? Met her once in Morrisons Sittingbourne she didnt moan about the job and had been there for years. I know they did the trunk between Enfield and Wakefield CCE a lot but I saw them mainly at Edmonton as for rest of drivers though dont think I ever spoke to another Brit - didnt they have houses full of poles working for rent??

I went passed there yard yesterday to do a delivery in swanscombe the yard was full of trailers and quite a few units as well and that was at 1230pm .

Anyway if you do a seach on them they were talked about a couple of months ago i think

I did a couple of days there through my agency. It rates as the worst company I have ever worked for. :imp: :imp:
First day start at 5 pm didn’t leave till 7. First unit I got, couldn’t move the seat back or forward, so couldn’t reach the pedals, bloke in charge at the gatehouse said sit further forward :unamused: :unamused: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Found me another one, took about 20 mins to find either an empty trailer, or one that wasn’t VOR’d and let me tell you there were loads of those !!. Hooked up, done the checks and left. Got 5 mins down the road when the alarm buzzer goes off and red warning lights start to flash, indicating a serious ABS fault. Back to the yard, bloke in gatehouse wants to know what’s up, giving me a dirty look at the same time. Told him that I wasn’t taking this one out either and why. Now had to find another truck and trailer. He now tells me I’m going to be late at CC Northampton, as if it’s my fault. :astonished: :astonished: :astonished: :open_mouth:
The next day wasn’t much better :smiling_imp:
They do a lot of work for ECS pulling trailers out of Tilbury P&O berth, that’s what I did on the following day, so the trailers were good but the units def need to be scrapped. They have got some nice kit, but only the blue-eyed boys get those.
Regarding Coca-cola they do still do work out of the company, but they aren’t as big in there as they used to be.

:smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: And get this, the two days that I was there did about 12 hours each day. When I got my pay slip, I noticed I was a few hours short, queeried it with my agency, they investigated it and found that MJD would only pay for the time I was being tracked on the road, not for any time spent in the yard !! That can’t be legal can It ?

thxs fellas they sound lile a bunch of cowboys best left i think cheers again

I cannot believe in 2010 they are companies like this around, Lets get them named and shamed in the public domain so we all can be aware of these cowboys.

From what ive seen the foreigners have the beat up old DAFs and what English drivers are left have the nice Ivecos and volvos

As said the state of some of their trailers is shocking, followed one over the bridge the other day, rotten doors, half working lights held on with cable ties, looked like scrap.

We have a lad whos just left MJD…he left because one of his mid lift wheels came off and when he pulled over and rang the office they told him to put it in the trailer and drive back to the yard  gives you some idea…they have had the licence suspended 5/6 times for maintenance issues :unamused:
