Sad affairs and some random geezer added to all this by jumping, was he an out of work trucker??

Condolences to all sad affair which will serve to tarnish us further

Terrible smash, condolences to all involved.

Interesting the BBC say the woman they interviewed was an ‘eyewitness’ when its clear she actually saw nothing?

I was just thinking that Hammer, she said “The first thing we heard was nothing, which woke us up because we’re so used to the traffic noise.”

Having a microphone shoved under your nose first thing in the morning can make people say all kinds of things. :unamused:

The truck involved was owned by Goodalls Transport from Halifax.

Just watching it now on Look North.

Condolences to the bereaved

Ken.

How horrific. I have nightmares about something happening like this, just shows how badly wrong things can go. Condolances to all those affected:(

Just goes to show how bad it was as the motorway is still closed. (6.45pm)

A horrible thing to happen.

Sympathies with all concerned.

nothing left of that red van :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: but with artic travelling towards you head on they would have had little or no time to react    .

again condolences to all

i saw this, this morning and wondered what was going on…

In a separate incident, police are investigating how a man fell from a bridge on to the motorway’s westbound carriageway near Castleford at 4.40am on Tuesday.

The man was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield.
Accident investigators have appealed for crash witnesses to call 01924 292915.

i was going past at 4.50 and saw on the other side of the motorway a quayside lorry from grimsby a bit ski whiff and a tesco truck parked up and also a stobbies. i saw the police treating the fella on the carrigeway and further up the road the amblance was racing to the scene. i dont think it was near a bridge though     no definatley not near the bridge cos i was thinking about it today if he could have been a jumper. more like tried to run in front of the lorry.

Two men were killed and three other people seriously injured when a HGV smashed through an M62 central reservation into a van and mobile crane.

The dead and two of the injured were in the van. The third badly injured person was the HGV driver. All the seriously injured are believed to be men

My thoughts are with the families of those involved :frowning:

VIDEO

Bloody hell :exclamation: :exclamation: Only just caught up with the latest news and pics about this, I can see into Goodalls yard from the balcony of my flat. They are not a cowboy outfit been around a good many years and I think most of their work is for Rowntree Mackintosh/Nestle out of the Halifax factory, all their tackle is well turned out but a bit on the old side.

You just never know when something is going to go wrong it makes yer feel like never going out of house. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Condolences again to the families involved
Regards
Dave Penn;

Heard about it all day, condolances to all.

just seen YEP vid, didn’t realise a Frontline van got caught up in it (know some of their drivers, we have same drops).

I am gonna be unpopular here but I have a slightly different slant on this. Its been one of my bugbears for years.

What the [zb] are West Riding plod doing closing a road for 12 hours. OK theres been a bad smash and deaths and thats tough. But closing it and doing all their measuring stuff etc etc ain’t gonna help the victims and screws up the lives of countless living folks. Those people in the queue that had been there for hours and hours. Comes under false imprisonment if you ask me. Now the French, they just drag the wrecks and the bodies off to one side and let traffic get going again.

British police couldn’t run a nun shoot in a nunnery any more. DOHHH useless[zb].

Lonewolf (shouldn’t that be Lone voice), there are crashes on the M62 every single day and it is seldom closed for such a long time, even if there are one or two lanes coned off then they are usually opened after a few hours, but surely you can see that yesterday’s crash was “not just another”.

Have you not seen the pictures?

yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n … 5279154.jp

An artic crosses the central reservation, smashing through Armco barriers, knocking down fifty-feet high lampposts and slams headlong into oncoming traffic. The resulting crash involved several vehicles, the deaths of two men and serious injuries for others.

The vehicles, including a crane, and vans that look as if they’re been peeled open with a can-opener litter the carriageway for some distance, and you think the police should have just swept them all up!

Don’t you think that the measurements and photos they take are necessary to determine the cause of the crash, work out who or what was at fault and provide factual evidence in the resulting inquiry?

As for using the French as an example:

The French just drag wrecks and the bodies off to one side

They also see nothing wrong with bashing brand new cars out of the way when they park, so I wouldn’t hold them up as a model of transport excellence.

if you ask me.

Now the French,

Here we go again, We should be more like the French. obviously never been stuck on the A6 or A7 in a 200 kilometre traffic jam than.

Probably a good job no-one asked him then

Yes actually I do

Don’t you think that the measurements and photos they take are necessary to determine the cause of the crash, work out who or what was at fault and provide factual evidence in the resulting inquiry?

No I don’t, not when it makes a misery of countless other peoples lives. Isn’t there a criteria of things being “in the public interest”? Whats in other peoples interest, making their lives a misery for hours and hours on the off chance a crime has been committed which isn’t gonna help the victims, or letting them get on??

never been stuck on the A6 or A7 in a 200 kilometre traffic jam than

No of course I haven’t, I was sensible enough to avoid them.

Think you were right and made yourself unpopular,

Never heard of west riding plod, however why do you think they closed the road for twelve hours?

The accident or whatever you would like to call it happened, there is the the problem that is is one of the major parts of the M62 so traffic is then chaos within minutes, sadly there are 2 deaths, things like coroners have to be informed etc, there is then the investigation, then the recovery of the vehicles, which i’m guessing wouldn’t have been easy, and following all that the road and armco repairs to be carried out so that the motorway is safe for people like you to use again, if you knew your facts you would know the following, the motorway has to be closed for the investigation, vehicle recovery and other users safety. i’m sure west yorkshire (note not riding) police would not want the motorway shut all day as it cause endless problems elsewhere but unfortunately it has to be done, again you will also find that once the accident investigation is complete, the scene would be handed over to the highways agency and the incident led by them from that point on, Might i also suggest that you look up the meaning of false imprisonment you might find that its not… :bulb:
