Well, i'll be [ZB]!

Wrote [ZB] in the dirt on the back of the truck, and all the lads in the yard said ‘what does it stand for?’. Just to keep it going, I told them that I couldnt tell them as they were not drivers, it has kept them guessing and trying to come up with solutions for a few days now.

The transport manager told me today that I must wash it off it as it may be seem as politically incorrect to people who might see it as offensive!..what■■?
I laughed and said like who? and he said anyone who does not like the letter Z or the combination of letters in case it means something bad in ‘foreign’

I am truly truly at a loss, has political correctness gone absolutely bonkers?

May be worth asking your tm if he has checked your reg plate, you may have to leave it off also.

Change it to FFS and when he asks tell him it means Flip Flop Shop!!

I laughed when I watched the stobart programme. The driver had to stand in a little box due to H&S

I noticed last week someone had written on our rented 3.5t van ‘[ZB] off’ across the back.

mickeyBlue, a place we used to deliver to had the stand in the box rule. We had to reverse in, open the curtains, stand in a box behind a metal fence, the forkie would unload, then back off, we then went back to the trailer, pulled the curtain forward and opened from the back, then back to the box. I jumped up to get me strops once, and was told i couldnt do that, as i was in breach of their H&S working at height policy, and i would have to do it after i left the yard. So they’d rather we did it on a main road then in the safety of their yard.

I had something similar once. I didn’t have to stand in a box but I had a Euroliner on with all the wooden boards and when I went to put them back in after loading they tried preventing me, using the height H&S nonsense and that I’d have to do it out on the road. Like any one with an inch of back bone I refused to comply with their drivel because it’d mean having to leave the trailer open and in bits to pull on to the road and carry all 60 boards by hand as the trailer was full due to the load so it wasn’t like I could put them inside to drive out, not that I would. Any how, all sorts of H&S talk ensured, followed by the arrival of more suits and such like. In the end they backed down because I told them they have three options and three options only. Number one, they can unload the whole lot and reload it on someone who likes being treat like a fool or if they don’t want to do that, but wont back down then we can play the waiting game, I’ll get in to my cab where I had provisions for at least a week and see who backs down first or finally they can wind their necks in, stop talking crap and let me put my trailer together in the safe and proper manner that I always had done prior to that indecent and proceeded to do after the incident. Needless to say that in the end they backed down and said nothing.
As far as I’m concerned the trailer leaves their yard in the same way as it arrived. I’m not pratting about taking the thing to bits, loading their load and then being told to drive off with the curtains open, boards on the floor and TIR cord un-done. Its no different to when you pull up somewhere to tip or load with a euroliner, ask where they want you, follow their directions, they then watch you take the whole thing to bits, lay all the boards neatly down the side of the truck and trailer and then say “You’re gonna have to move drive, we need you over there” Dont bloody think so! Any one who’s done euroliners or tilts will know exactly what I mean.

It wasn’t even at the edge of the yard was it?

It must be 10 times more dangerous standing in a small box in the MIDDLE of the yard, and standing ANYWHERE in the yard has to be at least ten times more dangerous than handing your keys out, and sitting pat in your cab. :bulb:

Doya think all this ■■■■■■■■ is to make the plebs think “I’m so glad someone else is doing this crap job for low pay instead of me. My paper pushing at the local council looks sooo important now, and I love my life as a result.”

I really believe it’s to compensate for the fact that they push bits of paper around offices all day and inevitably feel emasculated when they see a man doing a proper job. They then feel the need to show how manly they are by trying to belittle the driver/tradesman/other manual worker whilst using words like “issue” or “pro-active” (usually in the wrong context). These people also invariably read lads mags, drink whatever the adverts on TV tell them to, (in All Bar One) listen to Absolute Radio, (their “partner” listens to Heart FM) drive a VW Golf and think that good architecture is found in Slough.

You couldn’t make it up could you Robin Hood, lol.

It’s called ‘Monkey in the Box’

The new ■■■■ for sad H & S officers.

They video us ‘Monkeys’ standing in the Box, then ■■■■■■■■■■ over the images. Yuk !

Well done that man! These kind of plonkers generally back down when faced with common sense!!

To get back to the OP, the TM:

1.Has no sense of humour
2.Should have just said to wash it off because that’s what he wants you to do, rather than try and hide behind a mealy mouthed excuse. A lot of managers tend to do this nowadays unfortunately…
